This design depicts the traditional steroetyped fairy of English lore, the kind that lives in the garden, and generically can be found in trees, woods, meadows and such.
This is the sprite who can be mistaken for a butterfly, or dragonfly, and likes to play mishceivous but generally harmless jokes. According to some spins on the theme, they bite.
